The Morehouse College Entrepreneurship Center (MCEC) will partner with the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) as MCEC hosts their third annual Entrepreneurship Conference: Energy, Economy, Innovation and You, on February 25-26, 2010, on the campus of Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA.
The overall conference is designed to engage the business, academic, and federal communities in range of strategic actions, programs and discussions about job growth, reducing our dependence on oil and how to engage entrepreneurs to secure business in the renewable energy sector.
The conference is expected to attract 500 participants, including energy professionals, faculty, students, program managers from federal funding agencies, corporate foundations, supplier diversity representatives, hiring managers, policy makers, local entrepreneurs, and community advocates.
“This conference is unique because it focuses on industry specific solutions and directly connects entrepreneurs and students with corporate and government focused resources and support. Everything we do has one goal – to increase small business development and we are excited about partnering with AABE to provide an HBCU energy-focused conference for entrepreneurs,” states Tiffany Bussey, Director of the Entrepreneurship Center.
“AABE has been covering world, federal, state, local and financial policies as they relate to various energy topics and there is multi-trillion dollars worth of business to secure and we are looking to encourage minority businesses to tie into efforts at all levels. There are not enough minorities in the field for some of the opportunities and we are convinced that we found common ground through this collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Center,” says Frank M. Stewart, President and COO of AABE and a member of the Joint Center’s Commission to Engage African Americans on Climate Change.
