Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), chair of the Committee on Environment and Public Works, said Monday she intended to “set the record straight” on the United States’ effort to fight climate change. Unable to travel to Copenhagen, she told a crowd in Washington D.C., “America has already acted. We continue to act. And we are doing more every day.”
After highlighting numerous accomplishments within the state of California and beyond, she said: “Our nation will be a full participant in crafting a global solution to this global challenge.”
In her concluding remarks Senator Boxer looked to the future. “Clean energy legislation will move us away from foreign oil and the billion dollars a day we pay for it,” she said, “and it will lead us into a strong economic recovery and long term prosperity for our nation.”
